Space Tribology for Lunar Expoloration

Research object

The object is an application development of Tribology elements that guarantee of operation mechanism and endurance reliability in space environment (extreme temperature, ultra-high vacuum, solar radiation, atomic oxygen, electrostatic charged dust, micrometeoroids, etc.) KIST researches an analysis of dynamic characteristics of bearings and gears of Korean Lunar Rover. Development of Tribology technic in extreme environment(coating and self-lubrication that guarantee endurance reliability in lunar environment, -50 ~ 130 ℃ & below 10-5 torr)
