The use of gas turbines has increased in recent years and is going to continue to increase. Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) can provide higher power efficiency with combined heat and power (CHP) concepts for small scale distributed power generation. The preference of power generation is growing on account of efficiency improvement and environmental benefits.
MGTS(Micro Gas Turbine Simulator) is a single spool configuration with gas turbine rotor(GTR) and electric motor rotor(EMR) connected by diaphragm coupling and supported on gas foil journal bearings(GFJB). A total of five GFJBs support the two rotor, and a couple of double acting gas foil thrust bearings(GFTB) are located inside the gas turbine. This MGTS copies the 200kW micro gas turbine at its actual size except impeller blades of compressor and turbine.
KIST researches air Foil bearing which apply to high temperature circumstance. Our approach is based on high level modeling of AFBs and to perform experiment in real sized simulator to find ideal bearing clearance. And We analysis high speed rotor dynamics. Based above results, we develop steam supply and power generation.
Goal of MGT is to apply new design AFB(Air Foil Bearing), rotor for 200kW system. As a Result, we protect domestic market and promote extensive diffusion because of early commercial scale, improve proper cogeneration plant facilities. So, we developed as followings;
